Japan-based semiconductor company Rapidus will begin operations at its 2-nanometer semiconductor facility in Hokkaido this month, with a prototype chip expected by July.

CEO Koike Atsuyoshi announced the completion of pilot production equipment installation.

He explained that producing 2-nanometer chips requires nearly 300 complex production steps.

Rapidus plans to start mass production of these advanced chips by 2027, following a phased approach to optimize yield rates and build customer confidence.
