Japan’s Metaplanet launches US subsidiary with $15m capital

Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed firm focused on bitcoin-treasury management, has approved the creation of a US subsidiary called Metaplanet Income Corp. to expand its bitcoin income generation activities using derivatives.

The Miami-based entity will be wholly owned by Metaplanet Holdings and will start with US$15 million in capital, operating separately from its main treasury assets for risk management purposes.

Metaplanet began this business line in late 2024, and the firm says it has produced consistent and growing revenue and net income.

Leadership for the new subsidiary includes Simon Gerovich, along with directors Dylan LeClair and Darren Winia.

Metaplanet does not expect a material impact on its full-year 2025 results, and will make further disclosures as required by the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Block reported the company recently raised US$1.4 billion through an international equity offering, surpassing its US$880 million target, and it has grown its bitcoin holdings to over 20,000 BTC, worth more than US$2.3 billion.
