Japan’s Metaplanet buys 780 bitcoins, holdings reach $2b

Tokyo-listed firm Metaplanet has acquired 780 bitcoins for around US$92.5 million, as disclosed on July 28, 2025.

This purchase was made at an average price of US$118,622 per bitcoin.

With this acquisition, Metaplanet’s total bitcoin holdings now stand at 17,132 BTC, valued at about US$2 billion based on current market prices.

According to data from Bitcointreasuries, the company ranks seventh among public corporate bitcoin holders globally.
