Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet Inc. has acquired 619.7 bitcoin for approximately 9.5 billion yen (US$60.6 million).

This purchase, made at an average price of 15.3 million yen (US$97,786) per bitcoin, increases Metaplanet’s total bitcoin holdings to 1,761.98 BTC, valued at around US$167.1 million.

The company raised funds for the acquisition through two rounds of bond issuance last week, totaling US$60.6 million.
