Japan’s Genesia Ventures closes $113m fund

Genesia Ventures, a Japan-based venture capital firm, said on May 27 that it had reached the final close of its fourth fund at US$113 million.

The fund will back seed-stage startups across Japan, Southeast Asia, and India.

The new fund is slightly larger than the firm’s third fund, which closed at US$110 million in 2023.

Its earlier funds closed at US$35 million and US$70 million.

Genesia Ventures said Vietnam remains one of its strategic markets in Southeast Asia.

The firm said it has invested in more than 10 Vietnamese startups and has an office in Ho Chi Minh City.

The firm also runs Genesia Orbit Vietnam, a platform for early-stage founders in Ho Chi Minh City, with workshops, founder communities, and knowledge-sharing programs.
