Japanese robotics firm Fanuc shares soar on Nvidia AI deal

Fanuc shares jumped up to 9.4% on December 2 after the company announced a partnership with Nvidia to integrate AI into its factory and simulation software.

The Japanese robotics firm will use Nvidia’s open-source simulation framework to let manufacturers run virtual tests.

The collaboration also includes developing robots with improved voice recognition, safer human interaction, and better tracking.

This move comes as competition in Japan’s industrial robotics market intensifies after SoftBank’s planned acquisition of ABB’s robotics unit.

Fanuc’s robotics division made up 40% of total sales for the fiscal year ending March 2025.

In October, the company raised its fiscal 2026 forecast after posting higher-than-expected net income for Q2.
