Japanese healthtech startup nets $1.8m led by Golden Gate Ventures
Iwg, a Tokyo-based healthtech startup that builds software to share medical data, has raised US$1.8 million in a pre-series A round led by Golden Gate Ventures, with participation from Antler.
Iwg was founded in 2020 and offers cloud-based healthcare collaboration software.
Its DOCloud platform lets hospitals and other healthcare providers share medical data and connect with existing healthcare IT systems.
The company said the deal marked Golden Gate Ventures’ first investment in Japan from Fund IV.
The funding comes as Japan has spent years pushing healthcare digitization.
Standards introduced in 2010 and updated in 2016 promote interoperable data exchange, including Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise-based protocols.
