Japanese IT and business services company, NTT Data, has announced plans to invest US$500 million in India over the next 12 to 18 months.

The investment will focus on expanding data center operations and enhancing AI capabilities in the country.

Currently, the company operates 16 data centers in India with a 290 megawatts (MW) capacity and aims to add 210 MW in two to three years.

The investment will also support sovereign cloud solutions, particularly for the financial sector.

NTT Data is upgrading its Bengaluru Innovation Centre to develop AI, digital twin technology, and quantum computing.

Since 2007, it has invested over US$3 billion in India.
