Japan has earmarked 1.5 trillion yen (US$9.9 billion) for its semiconductor and AI sectors, including initiatives linked to Rapidus Corp, a semiconductor firm.

This funding is part of the government’s supplementary budget.

The funds include 1.05 trillion yen (US$7.04 billion) for research and development in next-generation chips and quantum computing.

An additional 471.4 billion yen (US$3.16 billion) will support local advanced chip production.
