Italian cybersecurity firm IdentifAI raises $5.8m funding

Italy-based IdentifAI has raised €5 million (US$5.8 million) in a funding round led by United Ventures.

This investment follows a €2.2 million (US$2.5 million) seed round completed less than a year ago.

Founded by Marco Ramilli and Marco Castaldo, the company builds technology to detect AI-generated or modified content across media types.

The new funding will help the company expand into Europe and the US while improving its detection capabilities.

Rising concerns about generative AI have boosted demand for detection tools, with a Deloitte study showing 70% of users worry about misuse.

IdentifAI will use the funds to boost research and development (R&D) efforts and grow its team in strategic markets.
