Israel’s mobile game developer lays off amid ongoing growth

Israeli mobile game developer Moon Active is laying off 50 to 100 employees as part of a strategy to streamline operations.

The company, which has about 2,500 employee globally, is known for its profitable operations and minimal media presence.

Freelance contractors may be significantly impacted by these cuts, which have affected various departments like marketing, screenwriting, animation, and art.

These layoffs include a 16% staff reduction in its Lithuania office over the past year.

Despite this, Moon Active continues to grow, with record revenues in 2024. Its flagship game, Coin Master, generates around US$2 billion annually, and the company has also acquired several firms, including Melsoft Games in Belarus.

The restructuring aims to align the company’s structure with its growth strategy while supporting ongoing expansion and maintaining financial performance.
