Israeli tech startup Hush Security bags $11m seed round

Hush Security, a cybersecurity startup based in Tel Aviv, has raised US$11 million in a seed round led by Battery Ventures and YL Ventures.

Founded in 2024 by the team behind Meta Networks, which was acquired by Proofpoint in 2019, Hush Security offers a policy-based access platform for machine-to-machine connections.

The company says its platform removes the need for vaults and static secrets by enforcing just-in-time, runtime access policies.

Hush Security’s leadership includes CEO Micha Rave, chief customer officer Chen Nisnkorn, CTO Shmulik Ladkani, and VP of R&D Alon Horowitz.

The startup aims to address security and operational issues as organizations shift to dynamic cloud environments and AI-driven workloads.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Machine access security follows decades-long evolution from static to dynamic controls

  • Hush Security’s “secretless” approach represents the latest stage in access control evolution, building on frameworks developed since the 1970s when Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) first emerged1.
  • Traditional vault-based systems struggle with modern AI workloads and ephemeral cloud environments, with Gartner predicting 40% of organizations will adopt secretless approaches by 20272.
  • The platform uses the SPIFFE framework for machine-to-machine communication, eliminating static credentials that create operational bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities3.
  • This shift mirrors the broader cybersecurity evolution from reactive, rule-based systems to adaptive, policy-driven controls that can handle dynamic environments where machines and AI agents require just-in-time access4.

Founders leverage proven zero trust expertise from successful exit

  • The Hush Security team previously built Meta Networks, which Proofpoint acquired for $120 million in 2019 after the company developed a Network-as-a-Service model focused on zero trust network access5.
  • Meta Networks was founded in 2016 and specialized in restricting access to authorized resources to prevent enterprise breaches, experience the team now applies to machine identity protection5.
  • The founders’ track record has already attracted multiple Fortune 500 companies to sign on to the new platform, suggesting their previous success with zero trust principles translates well to the machine access domain2.
