Israeli foodtech firm Brevel expands seed funding to $25m
Israeli foodtech company Brevel has expanded its seed funding round to US$25 million with an additional US$5 million investment.
The funding will support the development of microalgae-based protein and the company’s market expansion strategy.
Investors include existing backers like NevaTeam Partners, Siddhi Capital, the European Union’s EIC Fund, and others, along with new investors under the same terms.
Brevel uses light and sugar-based fermentation in indoor bioreactors to produce a neutral-flavored microalgae protein isolate. This method enhances yield and nutritional value, making it suitable for meat and dairy alternatives.
The company also generates revenue from functional oils, antioxidants, and nutritional fibers derived from microalgae biomass.
The funding will help Brevel expand its commercial activities, form manufacturing partnerships, and secure supply agreements for large-scale production.
Founded by brothers Yonatan, Ido, and Matan Golan, the company aims to meet the growing demand for sustainable and affordable protein alternatives.
