Israeli defense tech firm UVision eyes $3.5b valuation ahead of IPO
UVision, an Israeli defense company that makes loitering munitions, is in talks to sell around 5% of the firm to three to four local institutional investors ahead of a potential Nasdaq IPO.
The discussions include Clal Insurance, Migdal Insurance, Meitav, and More Provident, at an implied valuation of US$2.5 billion to US$3.5 billion.
JP Morgan is expected to lead the offering, and Frenkel is working with IBI Underwriting on terms that could include downside protection via options if the IPO prices below investors’ entry valuation.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
### The IPO story misses UVision’s deep ties to global defense giants
- Fortune Business Insights says Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a state-owned Israeli aerospace and defense company, bought a controlling stake in UVision Air Ltd. in January 2024 1.
- That ownership sits alongside a partnership with Germany’s Rheinmetall, a large defense manufacturer, to sell HERO loitering munitions in Europe. Hungary has bought Rheinmetall and UVision HERO precision munitions 2.
- Market interest goes beyond one deal. UVision is building systems for Western forces, including a helicopter-launched HERO-120 variant for the U.S. Marine Corps with US-based Mistral plus Fulcrum Concepts 3.
### A niche weapon’s public listing signals a fast-growing autonomous warfare market
- UVision’s potential IPO tracks a fast-expanding loitering munition system market. Fortune Business Insights expects it to grow from $5.37 billion in 2026 to $24.13 billion by 2034 1.
- Interest also follows battlefield use, including the war in Ukraine. A Switchblade 300 unit costs around $6,000, which undercuts the price of many guided missiles 4.
- Artificial intelligence, used for autonomous targeting, is turning single-use drones into a bigger tech business. Mainstream investors see a growing defense market built around scalable autonomy 5.
