Israeli cybersecurity startup Jazz nets $43m series A

Jazz is an Israeli cybersecurity startup that raised US$43 million in a series A led by Glilot Capital Partners and Team8.

The round also included participation from Ten Eleven Ventures (1011vc), MassMutual, Merlin Ventures, and leading cyber and AI entrepreneurs, bringing the company’s total funding to US$61 million.

The company says it has 15 paying customers and 45 employees, most of them at its development center in Israel and the rest in the United States.

Jazz was founded in late 2024 by Ido Livneh, Jake Tuertskey, Noam Issachar, and Yonatan Zohar, veterans of Unit 81 and alumni of companies including Axonius and Laminar.

Jazz offers a data loss prevention platform that it says maps data movement inside organisations and provides security teams with a clearer view of potential risks.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Jazz bets on an AI investigator instead of rigid data security rules

  • Jazz tracks data movement and centers on an Agentic Investigator that learns an organization’s business processes automatically 1.
  • The model aims to cut the need for cybersecurity teams to write and tune thousands of rules, which slows older systems 1.
  • In one deployment, Jazz says it cut daily Data Loss Prevention (DLP) noise from tens of thousands of low-confidence detections to about ten pre-investigated incidents a day 1.
  • Customers include Lemonade and AlphaSense, and buyers compare it with Symantec plus newer rivals like Next DLP during enterprise sales cycles.

Jazz’s funding backs a break from legacy data security tools

  • Traditional Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools often watch file uploads and downloads, yet they struggle with risks like pasting sensitive text into GenAI tools or using unmanaged apps 1.
  • Glilot Capital Partners and Team8 funded Jazz to rebuild DLP from first principles rather than ship small upgrades 1.
  • The bet targets a long-running tension between tight security and day-to-day productivity that has burdened cybersecurity teams for two decades 1.
  • Jazz’s design could push incumbents to re-architect products or face obsolescence, and it may shift a security analyst’s work from rule-tuning to overseeing AI-led investigations 1.
