🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Cybercriminals have expanded their attack surface beyond traditional email
The rise of Cyvore illustrates how cybersecurity’s focus is evolving with modern workplace communication patterns.
While 91% of cyber attacks historically began with phishing emails according to Deloitte, attackers are increasingly targeting newer channels like Zoom, Teams, Slack, and WhatsApp—platforms that now handle 55% of business communication as noted in the original article1.
This shift reflects a broader pattern where cybercriminals adapt their techniques to target the actual platforms where valuable business interactions occur, rather than remaining fixated on email-only approaches.
Ori Segal, Cyvore’s CEO, specifically highlighted deepfakes in video calls and voice message manipulation as emerging threats, showing how attackers are exploiting the trust inherent in more personal communication mediums2.
This expansion of the attack surface helps explain why startup investors are willing to back specialized security solutions despite the crowded cybersecurity marketplace.
2️⃣ Cybersecurity spending follows evolving threat patterns
Cyvore’s $2.5 million pre-seed funding reflects broader investment trends in targeted cybersecurity solutions addressing specific emerging threats.
Global cybersecurity spending is projected to exceed $215 billion by 2025 according to data cited by Cyvore, with investments increasingly flowing toward solutions that address modern security gaps rather than general-purpose tools2.
