Israeli cybersecurity firm Cato Networks to raise $300m funding

Cato Networks, an Israeli cybersecurity firm, is reportedly in advanced discussions to raise US$300 million in funding.

This funding round is expected to consist of US$150 million in primary capital and US$150 million from secondary share sales, giving the company a pre-money valuation of US$4.5 billion.

This potential funding represents a significant increase from the company’s previous valuation of US$3 billion during its last funding round in September 2023.

The current discussions occur during a difficult period for tech companies. Market volatility has led several firms, including eToro and Klarna, to postpone initial public offerings.

Founded in 2015, Cato Networks operates in the Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) sector. The company claims a 46% year-over-year growth and currently serves more than 3,000 enterprises globally.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Israel’s cybersecurity sector shows surprising resilience in wartime economy

Despite Israel’s broader economy facing a projected 2% contraction due to ongoing conflicts, the cybersecurity sector has maintained remarkable momentum.

The Israeli tech sector achieved $12 billion in funding during 2024, representing a 27% increase year-over-year, with cybersecurity commanding over 40% of all private funding 1.

Cato Networks’ growth trajectory mirrors this broader resilience, with the company reaching $250 million in annual recurring revenue in 2024 and achieving 46% year-over-year growth despite challenging conditions.

While the war has mobilized over 300,000 reservists causing significant labor shortages across the tech industry, established cybersecurity firms have adapted by emphasizing remote work and restructuring teams 2.

The company’s ability to secure potential funding at a $4.5 billion valuation (up from $3 billion previously) demonstrates investor confidence in Israel’s cybersecurity ecosystem despite geopolitical uncertainties.

This pattern of cybersecurity outperformance during crises has historical precedent, as security spending often remains prioritized when other technology investments are cut, particularly for cloud-based solutions that require less physical infrastructure.

2️⃣ The SASE market shift from point solutions to integrated platforms

Cato Networks represents a significant architectural shift in enterprise security, targeting the massive $60 billion MPLS and $12 billion firewall markets with an integrated cloud-native approach 3.
