Israeli AI image editing platform Weavy raises $4m seed funding

Weavy, an AI-driven platform for image and video editing, has launched after securing $4 million in seed funding led by Entrée Capital.

The Israeli startup aims to assist creative professionals by simplifying workflows with generative AI tools.

The browser-based platform combines traditional editing features such as layering and masking with AI models from providers including OpenAI, Runway, and Kling.

Initially focused on enterprise clients like Nvidia, Wix, Taboola, and eToro, Weavy is now expanding access to smaller teams and individual users.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ The productivity paradox in creative AI adoption

Creative professionals are experiencing a gap between AI potential and practical implementation in their workflows, which Weavy aims to address.

AI tools can save creative teams up to 11 hours weekly by automating technical tasks and enhancing brainstorming processes, yet implementation remains challenging for many organizations 1.

Despite high investment intentions in AI technology, McKinsey reports that only 1% of companies consider themselves mature in AI deployment, highlighting the significant disconnect between investment and effective integration 2.

This productivity paradox explains why Weavy’s approach of creating reusable visual workflows rather than relying solely on prompts addresses a genuine market need. Creative professionals require structured systems to harness AI consistently across teams.

The platform’s emphasis on techniques like layering and compositing acknowledges that creative work requires precision tools beyond basic text prompts, aligning with the industry’s shift toward more intentional and strategic AI applications.

2️⃣ Creative tools evolving toward collaborative intelligence

Weavy represents a broader trend in the creative technology landscape where tools are being designed for human-AI collaboration rather than replacement.

The creative industry is moving away from viewing AI as a standalone solution and instead embracing what some experts call “collaborative intelligence,” systems where humans maintain creative direction while AI handles technical execution 3.

This shift is reflected in recent research showing increased concern about “AI fatigue” among senior leaders, who are becoming more discriminating about how AI should integrate with existing creative processes 1.
