Iron Pillar leads $35m round in Indian interior design firm
Flipspaces, a Mumbai-based interior design startup, has raised US$35 million in a round led by Iron Pillar, with participation from Prudent Investment Managers and Synergy Capital.
The startup will use the funds to expand in India, the US, and the UAE, while also enhancing its technology and exploring acquisitions.
Founded in 2011, Flipspaces offers a tech-driven platform for commercial interior design, serving both small and medium businesses (SMBs) and larger enterprises.
The company reports that its US operations account for 20% of its revenue and are currently profitable, along with its Indian business.
Flipspaces has completed over 8 million square feet of projects and faces competition from players like Livspace, which raised US$180 million in 2022.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ Interior design-tech is riding a high-growth market wave, especially in India
Flipspaces’ $35 million funding comes amid impressive growth projections for the interior design market, with the Indian segment specifically expected to grow at over 18% CAGR from 2025 to 2030, significantly outpacing the global market’s 5.45% growth rate 1.
The global interior design market, currently valued at approximately $137.9 billion in 2024, is projected to reach $222.27 billion by 2032, indicating substantial room for expansion 2.
This growth is driven by increasing urbanization and rising disposable incomes, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, which is poised to overtake North America’s current 33.5% market share 3.
Flipspaces’ strategy to expand operations across India, US, and UAE aligns with these regional growth patterns, as the company positions itself to capitalize on markets at different maturity stages.
The timing of their funding round appears strategic, as the company can leverage its profitable operations in both India and the US as a foundation for expansion into the emerging UAE market.
2️⃣ Tech-enabled interior design firms are attracting substantial funding amid digital transformation
Flipspaces’ $35 million raise follows competitor Livspace’s much larger $180 million round in 2022 that valued the company at $1.2 billion, demonstrating investor confidence in digitally-transformed interior design businesses.
The technology aspect is crucial, as the interior design software market itself is growing at 11.1% CAGR in the Asia-Pacific region, indicating strong demand for digital tools in the design process 4.
