Intel’s new CEO plots overhaul of manufacturing, AI operations
Intel has appointed Lip-Bu Tan as its new CEO, effective Mar.18, 2025.
The 65-year-old veteran of the chip industry plans to overhaul the company’s AI and manufacturing strategies to address existing challenges.
Tan’s strategy focuses on streamlining operations by reducing middle management and revamping the Intel Foundry division. This division produces chips for external clients, including Nvidia and Microsoft, which Tan has prioritized.
He aims to refocus on AI chip production and expand Intel’s presence in sectors such as robotics and foundational AI models.
