Intel-backed AI chip startup SambaNova raises $350m
SambaNova Systems, a US-based AI chip startup, announced it has raised US$350 million in a funding round led by Vista Equity Partners and Cambium Capital, with Intel Capital participating.
The company plans to use the funds to develop its SN50 AI chip, expand its SambaCloud platform, and enhance enterprise software integrations.
SoftBank will be the first customer to deploy the SN50 chip in its AI data centers in Japan.
SambaNova and Intel also signed a multi-year agreement to provide AI inference solutions for AI-native companies.
The funding follows reports of stalled acquisition talks between SambaNova and Intel, which had previously considered a deal valued at around US$1.6 billion.
