Intel said it will retain its networking and communications unit after reviewing strategic options for the business.

The company had previously considered selling various assets to improve its financial position, and NEX was one of the units reviewed.

Intel received a US$8.9 billion investment from the US government for a 10% stake, along with US$2 billion from SoftBank Group and US$5 billion from Nvidia.

Chief financial officer Dave Zinsner said these investments have improved Intel’s cash position.
