Intel stock rises 4% after report on TSMC joint venture
Intel Corporation’s stock rose over 4% on Apr. 3, following a report from The Information about a potential joint venture with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).
The rise came after shares had dropped more than 5% earlier in the day.
The report said that Intel and TSMC executives have reached a tentative agreement to form a joint venture, which could involve some of Intel’s manufacturing facilities.
The venture would allow Intel and other American chipmakers to hold a majority stake.
Bloomberg News had reported in February that the companies were exploring this idea at the request of the Trump administration.
Intel has not yet commented on the report.
