Intel gets initial approval for private power plant in Israel

The Israeli government has granted initial approval for Intel to build a private power plant at its semiconductor manufacturing facility in Kiryat Gat.

This decision represents the first step in a regulatory process that may take up to seven years.

The plant would generate 450 to 650 megawatts, reducing Intel’s reliance on the national grid.

The energy ministry found the project aligned with national electricity policies.
