Intel to buy Israeli quantum software startup Classiq
Intel has agreed to buy Classiq Technologies, an Israeli startup that develops quantum software, adding application-building tools to its quantum computing efforts and strengthening its push toward commercial uses of the technology.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Classiq has raised more than US$200 million and has about 130 employees. The company will continue supporting code that runs on Intel and rival quantum systems.
The acquisition would give Intel software to build and test quantum applications across different hardware. It would sit alongside Intel’s quantum program, which the company said is pursuing silicon spin qubits and broader systems research.
That work has included a chip Intel said would advance research in spin qubits. A paper also described 12-spin-qubit arrays fabricated on 300 mm wafers.
