Intel announces board retirements before shareholder meeting

Intel Corp. will see three board members, Omar Ishrak, Tsu-Jae King Liu, and Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, retire as part of its strategic shift.

They will not seek reelection at the annual shareholder meeting on May 6, reducing the board to 11 members.

This follows last year’s addition of independent directors Eric Meurice and Steve Sanghi.

Chairman Frank Yeary said that the company aims for the right mix of skills and expertise on the board.

The changes come after Lip-Bu Tan replaced Pat Gelsinger as CEO, with reports linking Gelsinger’s departure to concerns over Intel’s recovery pace.

Details were outlined in Intel’s annual proxy statement.
