Intel, AMD join forces to improve software compatibility
Intel and AMD announced Tuesday a collaboration to improve software compatibility between their x86 architecture-based chips.
This initiative responds directly to competitive challenges from Arm Holdings, a rising force in the semiconductor industry.
The x86 architecture, introduced by Intel over four decades ago, has powered personal computers, laptops, and data center servers.
AMD, which licenses this technology from Intel, has competed directly since their settlement allowing AMD to produce x86-compatible processors.
