Insight Partners leads $50m series C in US security platform
GitGuardian, a security platform focused on managing non-human identities and secrets, has raised US$50 million in a series C funding round led by Insight Partners and Quadrille Capital.
The investment aims to support the company’s expansion across the US, EMEA, and new regions including Asia Pacific, South America, and the Middle East.
The funding will also enable the company to grow its teams in North America and Europe, particularly in sectors with strict compliance needs such as technology, finance, and healthcare.
The company plans to enhance its platform to address the security challenges posed by AI agents and automate governance of non-human identities.
In 2025, GitGuardian reported protecting over 115,000 developers and monitoring more than 610,000 repositories globally.
GitGuardian, based in Paris and New York, is known for its app on GitHub Marketplace and serves over 600,000 developers worldwide.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
GitGuardian’s funding targets AI agents as the next wave of security risk
- The bet rests on organizations soon running thousands of autonomous AI agents, each needing credentials, which multiplies the ways attackers can get in 1.
- This round lifts GitGuardian’s total funding to about $106 million since its 2017 founding. The product has moved from secrets detection to non-human identity (NHI) governance, which covers tools that track and protect credentials used by automated systems rather than employees 2.
- The company frames the raise as global growth, yet revenue leans toward the US. The US provides 70% of revenue, while North America delivers over 80% of new annual recurring revenue (ARR) in 2025 3.
The funding signals a shift from human to non-human identity security
- Traditional identity products focus on people, so they struggle with the credentials automated systems use. That gap grows as AI adoption spreads 2.
- The raise also raises the stakes against larger developer ecosystems like GitHub, with GitGuardian arguing its developer-workflow approach can beat bundled features 4.
- European rules such as NIS2 (an EU cybersecurity directive) and DORA (the EU’s Digital Operational Resilience Act for financial services) add pressure. Some enterprises now treat secrets and non-human identity management as a compliance need, not only a technical practice 4.
