Inside Ant International’s AI system moves $1.1t across borders
Ant International, the Singapore-based cross-border payments unit of Ant Group, is deploying AI models for corporate treasury management and currency forecasting.
The company said its system handled US$1.1 trillion in money flows last year.
Its technology combines an algorithm trained on economic and logistics data with a blockchain-based messaging platform to manage and move funds across borders.
The system is used internally and offered to clients, including three airlines.
Ant International claims the technology can reduce daily cash holding needs for companies by up to 60%.
The firm introduced a new AI model in 2024 that processes large data sets in parallel, improving demand prediction accuracy for events like flash sales or unexpected market shifts.
Major players such as Amazon and JP Morgan are also developing similar AI and blockchain solutions for cross-border payments.
Ant Group, co-founded by Jack Ma, has refocused on compliance and technology since regulatory actions halted its IPO in 2020.
