Industry operator optimistic on Taiwan’s humanoid robot role
Taiwanese manufacturers may significantly contribute to the humanoid robot supply chain, according to Yen Jui-hsiung, chairman of Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., Ltd., a manufacturer based in Kaohsiung.
Yen said, local companies are capable of producing essential components for humanoid robots like harmonic drives and planetary gearboxes.
However, high manufacturing costs remain a major challenge for making humanoid robots more accessible.
Yen’s comments came after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Taipei, where he discussed potential collaborations with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) in robotics and self-driving vehicles.
