InDrive teams up with Pony.ai, Nvidia for robotaxi tests
InDrive, a ride-hailing company based in Mountain View, plans to work with autonomous driving firm Pony.ai and Nvidia to test robotaxis in Astana, Kazakhstan, in the first half of 2027.
The tests will start with a safety operator in the vehicle.
Under a memorandum of understanding, Pony.ai would supply its Gen-7 robotaxis for inDrive’s app, while Nvidia would provide AI technology, including its Hyperion platform and Halos safety system.
Kazakhstan announced in September that it planned to launch autonomous taxi services in 2027 and introduced rules allowing autonomous vehicle testing on certain public roads.
The proposed Astana pilot builds on inDrive’s presence in Kazakhstan, where it operates local services and has been updating its product.
It also follows inDrive’s memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabian company Ai Driver to advance deployment in Saudi Arabia.
For Pony.ai, the proposal follows plans in March 2026 to more than double its robotaxi fleet.
