InDrive appoints new chief product officer

InDrive, a mobility and delivery platform, said on May 12 it appointed Sidd Mantri as chief product officer to lead product development.

The company is expanding beyond ride-hailing into delivery, couriers, freight, and financial services.

Mantri joins inDrive’s senior leadership team after working at Careem, where he oversaw products across mobility, quick commerce, food delivery, and remittances.

He previously held product leadership roles at Disney+, Microsoft, and Grab, and has worked across the US, Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

inDrive’s low-fee approach supports a multi-billion-dollar platform

  • inDrive operates at large scale, with $2.2 billion in revenue in 2025 and nearly 9,700 employees 1.
  • Its model differs from many rivals. The company takes about 10% on average, while other ride-hailing apps take 25% to 60% 2.
  • inDrive describes itself as an “online aggregator,” a platform that connects riders with drivers and lets both sides negotiate the fare directly. That approach stays central as it moves into nearby services 3.

The hire tests the high-commission super-app approach

  • The choice of a product leader with experience at Careem plus Grab lines up with inDrive’s move into delivery, courier work, freight, and financial services.
  • A super-app bundles services such as transport, food delivery, and payments in one app. inDrive wants to grow through steady expansion and a leaner model, without expensive user incentives 2.
  • If the low-commission model works across more business lines, gig platforms may face pressure to explain higher take rates. That could offer a more sustainable model for platform companies 2.
