Indosat, Nokia, and Nvidia have opened an AI-RAN research center in Surabaya, Indonesia, to develop AI-powered radio access networks and edge AI applications.

This center is the first Nokia-Nvidia AI-RAN collaboration site in Asia and builds on a partnership introduced at Mobile World Congress 2025.

The facility will focus on building AI-integrated wireless networks using Nokia’s RAN technology and NVIDIA’s computing platforms, connected to Indosat’s existing AI infrastructure.

The center will support research into AI-driven network optimization, including energy efficiency and dynamic scaling. It will provide a platform for engineers and researchers to work on AI projects and develop local digital talent.

Indosat, Nokia, and Nvidia plan to use the center to establish an “AI Grid” linking AI hubs across Indonesia’s 5G network, aligning with the country’s plans to boost digital transformation and workforce development.
