The total number of ecommerce transactions hit 466.93 million, up 16.89% year-on-year and 6.64% month-on-month.

The average value per transaction was around 95,000 rupiah (US$5,83) in July 2025.

🧠 Food for thought

1️⃣ Indonesia’s e-commerce shows signs of mature market behavior despite continued growth

The transaction data reveals Indonesia’s e-commerce market has evolved beyond early adopter phases into mainstream consumer behavior.

E-commerce transactions surged from 280 million in 2018 to 3.23 billion in 2024, representing more than an 11-fold increase in just six years1. However, the average transaction value remains relatively modest at around Rp 95,000 (approximately $6.30), suggesting the growth is driven by broader population adoption rather than higher spending per user1.

This pattern indicates the market has successfully expanded beyond urban, high-income consumers to include middle and lower-income segments across Indonesia’s diverse geography.

The 16.89% year-over-year growth in transaction volume compared to the 6.41% growth in transaction value further supports this trend of democratized access to e-commerce platforms1.
