Indonesia’s Danantara, Gates group to allocate $100m for projects
Danantara Trust Fund will allocate US$100 million this year for philanthropic initiatives focused on education, health, and water sanitation.
The Indonesia-based fund will collaborate with the Gates Foundation on these projects.
Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani said the commitment will serve as the foundation for the fund’s long-term philanthropy, and that Danantara plans to set aside 1–2% of its annual dividends for social programs.
A joint session between Danantara and the Gates Foundation, described as a “philanthropy lab,” will run until January 2026, ahead of a planned formal partnership agreement.
Roeslani added that Danantara is open to working with other philanthropic organizations to expand collaboration in the region.
The news follows a meeting in New York between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Bill Gates during the 80th UN General Assembly.
President Prabowo said the two organizations will seek joint humanitarian projects addressing poverty, hunger, and education.
