Crypto transactions in Indonesia surged to 44.07 trillion rupiah (US$2.68 billion) in Jan. 2025, marking a 104.31% increase from 21.57 trillion rupiah (US$1.31 billion) in January 2024.

This growth aligns with last year’s total crypto transactions of 650.6 trillion rupiah (US$39.56 billion), including 94 trillion rupiah (US$5.72 billion) in December.

The data was shared by Hasan Fawzi of Indonesia’s financial services authority (OJK), during the Feb. 2025 Monthly Commissioner Council Meeting on Mar. 4, 2025.

As of February 2025, 1,396 crypto assets are available for trading in Indonesia.

The OJK has authorized 19 entities, including one crypto exchange, one clearing institution, one custodian storage manager, and 16 traders, with 14 more in the process of obtaining permits.

Following the regulatory transition from Bappebti to OJK, a working group was formed to oversee regulations, licensing, supervision, and document transfers under the Financial Sector Development and Reinforcement Law (UU P2SK).
