Indonesian VC Alpha JWC launches startup whistleblower platform
Alpha JWC Ventures, Jakarta-based venture capital firm, has launched SpeakUp, a whistleblowing platform designed to enhance corporate governance in Southeast Asia’s startup ecosystem.
The platform enables founders, employees, and stakeholders to report misconduct, including fraud, harassment, and ethical violations, while ensuring anonymity and protection for whistleblowers.
SpeakUp operates through an encrypted portal or secure email system. It features safeguards to prevent false reporting.
Reports are handled confidentially by an independent team, which ensures prompt action on the issues raised.
Alpha JWC Ventures will cover implementation costs for its portfolio companies, making it the first venture capital firm in the region to support such a system.
Since its soft launch, more than 20 of Alpha JWC’s portfolio companies have adopted SpeakUp.
Plans are in place to extend its reach to over 30,000 employees across 80 startups. This initiative underscores a growing focus on transparency and accountability within Southeast Asia’s tech sector.
Founded in 2015, Alpha JWC Ventures manages around US$650 million in assets. It supports over 80 startups in the region.
