🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ The dramatic evolution of ecommerce logistics during Shipper’s journey
Budi’s 9-year tenure at Shipper coincided with a period of profound transformation in the logistics industry, particularly for ecommerce.
When Shipper launched around 2016, ecommerce was already growing but still developing its logistics infrastructure. That year, ecommerce operations accounted for less than 5% of new warehouse leases globally, a figure that would quadruple to 20% in just a few years 1.
Consumer expectations transformed radically during this period, with the market shifting from accepting multi-day deliveries to demanding same-day or next-day options, pressuring logistics companies to reimagine their operational models 2.
The logistics space requirements for ecommerce operations grew to three times that of traditional retail, necessitating massive investment in strategically located warehouses near population centers to meet delivery time expectations 3.
This evolution explains why Shipper had to transform from “a small logistic aggregator to become one-stop supply chain logistics company,” reflecting the broader industry trend where single-function logistics providers had to develop integrated solutions to remain competitive.
2️⃣ Executive founders increasingly building personal platforms after corporate chapters
Budi’s transition from corporate leadership to creating a personal platform reflects a growing trend among executives who seek to leverage their experience and insights beyond their founding companies.
Research shows that 92% of professionals trust companies whose executives maintain an active presence on social media, highlighting how personal visibility has become essential for business credibility 4.
This shift is particularly pronounced among founder-executives who have deep industry knowledge but seek more personal expression. Budi’s creation of “Ini Cerita Budi,” where he addresses varied topics from health to business to travel, is an example of this trend.
The multi-channel approach Budi is taking (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, podcast, website) aligns with current personal branding best practices, which emphasize consistency across platforms while maintaining an authentic voice that resonates with specific audiences 5.
