Indonesia sovereign fund targets tech, AI, healthcare for growth
The Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), launched in 2021 with US$5 billion in government capital and now managing US$10 billion in assets, is focusing on digital infrastructure, healthcare, and renewables to support the country’s economic growth.
It has expanded from direct equity investments to hybrid capital and private credit.
As Indonesia emphasizes data independence, demand for data centres and supporting infrastructure is expected to rise.
INA recently partnered with Singapore-based Granite Asia to invest over US$1.2 billion in Indonesia’s tech and AI ecosystem, and has backed projects such as the DayOne data centre campus in Batam.
Chief investment officer Christopher Ganis said INA is prioritizing practical AI applications, particularly in healthcare.
Renewables remain a key area, with INA investing alongside Masdar Clean Energy in Pertamina Geothermal Energy in 2023. INA’s main focus will continue to be on Indonesia-linked investments.
