Indonesia to engage Malaysia to discuss Trump’s tariffs
The Indonesian government is assessing the impact of new US import tariffs and preparing strategies to mitigate their effects.
Starting Apr. 5, the US will impose a 10% tariff on all imports, with additional reciprocal tariffs beginning Apr. 9.
Indonesia faces a 32% tariff, affecting key export sectors like electronics, textiles, and palm oil.
The government plans to collaborate with Malaysia, the current ASEAN chair, to address the issue collectively, as all 10 ASEAN nations are affected by the tariffs.
