Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has invited China to collaborate on AI development in agriculture and fisheries. The invitation was announced by Minister Meutya Hafid on July 27, 2025.

Hafid noted that certain agricultural sectors in Indonesia are already using AI technology.

She expressed a need for support from China to enhance these tools. The partnership aims to improve production in these important sectors.

Additionally, the two nations plan to strengthen cooperation in digital infrastructure. They also aim to foster ties between universities.

This initiative includes potential partnerships between Indonesian institutions and China’s Tsinghua University to cultivate digital talent.

Ismail, Secretary-General of Komdigi, highlighted ongoing efforts to facilitate collaboration with Tsinghua University.

He suggested that the university establish a branch in Indonesia focused on AI education and training.

He cited that many young Indonesians are studying at the Beijing-based institution.

Komdigi reiterated its commitment to collaborating with any country that respects Indonesia’s laws during its digital transformation efforts.
