Indonesia gov’t seeks $773m fund for AI, data center
Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kominfo) has proposed an additional budget of 12.6 trillion rupiah (US$773 million) for the 2026 fiscal year.
This increase would raise its total budget to 20.36 trillion rupiah (US$1.25 billion), up from the previous indicative allocation of 7.75 trillion rupiah (US$477.4 million).
Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, said that the additional budget aims to enhance internet access in Papua.
It also seeks to sustain the National Data Center (PDN) and promote AI technology as part of the country’s digital transformation.
The proposed funds will support infrastructure development, the digital ecosystem, and the security of the digital space.
Additional areas of focus include public communication, media programs, and management support initiatives.
She discussed these priorities during a meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on July 7, 2025.
