Indonesia gives platforms 4 hours to remove hate speech
Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs now requires platforms that host user content to remove or block disinformation and hate speech within four hours of an access termination order.
Under Ministerial Decree No. 127 of 2026, as it tightens oversight of online content.
The rule covers private electronic system operators such as social media platforms, online forums, and video-sharing services, classifying such content as harmful to public order.
Compliance will be tracked through SAMAN system, with missed deadlines risking administrative sanctions.
The move raises compliance pressure on global platform such as Meta, Google, and X, which now face stricter response-time requitements in Indonesia.
