Indonesia plans to give tax incentives to foreign automakers that are keen on building electric vehicle (EV) plants in the country.

This allows the automakers to import completely built EVs without import duties and luxury goods sales tax until 2025. The regulations also postpone a mandate that requires manufacturers to locally produce at least 40% of an EV’s parts to 2026 from 2023.
