Indonesia’s BMKG and PT Environmental Intelligence Indonesia have developed Tomorrow Indonesia, an AI-based system for short-term weather forecasting.

The system combines BMKG radar data with global satellite imagery to produce high-resolution predictions with a spatial resolution of 0.5 kilometers, allowing for more frequent updates.

Validated in Jakarta and West Java, the technology aims to improve rain predictions three hours ahead, especially in areas with complex weather patterns.

The system is designed to support early warning efforts for sectors such as disaster management, agriculture, aviation, maritime, and energy.

Plans are underway to expand the application to Sumatra and Sulawesi, including weather-based farming plans, flight safety, and renewable energy grid management.

The project has completed data integration between the Tomorrow Indonesia cloud system and BMKG infrastructure, moving towards nationwide implementation.
