Indonesia caps ride-hailing commissions at 8% under new rule
Indonesia’s government issued Presidential Regulation No. 27/2026 on digital platform transport on October 8.
The rule covers motorcycle taxi fares, employment social security, and oversight of passenger, goods, and food services.
Officials said the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises will lead oversight.
The Ministry of Transportation will regulate passenger services and fares, while the Ministry of Communications and Digital will oversee goods and food deliveries.
President Prabowo Subianto said in May that drivers would receive at least 92% of revenue, up from 80%.
The 8% commission ceiling applies only to motorcycle passenger services.
The regulation follows protests by Indonesian app drivers, who demanded better pay and objected to platform commission deductions.
Gojek, GoTo’s ride-hailing unit, said it had applied an 8% commission to GoRide since July 1, 2026, and was waiting for delivery rules from the Ministry of Communications and Digital.
