Indonesia has halted sales of Google smartphones, including the Pixel series, following non-compliance with local manufacturing laws.

This decision mirrors last week’s ban on Apple’s iPhone 16 for similar reasons.

The regulation requires that at least 40% of smartphone components sold in Indonesia be locally produced, according to Industry Ministry spokesperson Febri Hendri Antoni Arief.

“Google’s products have not adhered to the scheme we set, so they can’t be sold here,” Arief said.

Google stated that its Pixel phones are not officially available in Indonesia. However, Indonesians can purchase them abroad, provided they pay the required taxes.
