Indonesia allows conditional access to X’s Grok service

Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) is closely monitoring the normalization of access to the Grok service after X Corp submitted a written commitment to improve the service and comply with Indonesian law.

Alexander Sabar, Director General for Digital Space Oversight at Kemkomdigi, said the normalization is conditional and will be evaluated on a regular basis.

X Corp said it has implemented remedial measures, including strengthening technical safeguards, restricting certain features, and enforcing internal policies.

Kemkomdigi will verify and test the effectiveness of these measures in preventing violations, such as the spread of illegal content and breaches of child protection regulations.

The normalization will continue to be monitored and reviewed, and if violations are found, Kemkomdigi reserves the right to suspend access to the service again.

Kemkomdigi reaffirmed X Corp’s commitment to cooperate in fulfilling its legal obligations as an electronic system operator and to help maintain a responsible digital ecosystem.
