India’s Unacademy founders target $73.5m AI, deeptech fund
Unacademy founders Gaurav Munjal and Roman Saini are raising Longshot Capital, a 7 billion rupees (US$73.5 million) venture fund for seed and pre-series A startups in AI, manufacturing, space, defense, and robotics.
Unacademy is an India-based edtech company. The fund has secured about 3 billion rupees (US$31.5 million) in commitments and is targeting a first close in January 2027, after which it plans to start investing.
Saini will lead the fund full-time, while Munjal will participate part-time as he continues to head Unacademy.
The move comes less than two months after upGrad, an India-based higher education and upskilling company, acquired Unacademy at a valuation of US$206 million.
Saini also has a documented history of angel investing.
