India’s TCS partners with Anthropic on enterprise AI
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), an Indian IT services company, said on June 11 that it partnered with Anthropic to help enterprises expand AI use.
The partnership will train 50,000 TCS associates on Anthropic’s Claude and develop AI tools for highly regulated sectors.
That focus could matter for TCS because banking, financial services, and insurance contribute 31.2% of its quarterly revenue, making the sector the company’s largest business vertical.
The deal comes as investors assess how AI may reshape India’s tech sector, which the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) projects will reach US$315 billion in FY26.
TCS Chairman N Chandrasekaran said IT companies are likely to slow hiring as TCS moves toward having an equal number of employees and AI agents.
Anthropic’s February model update said Claude can multitask autonomously across coding, research, financial analysis, and document work, raising concerns that AI tools could pressure some outsourcing work.
